About Us
Jose J. Alderete Middle School (AMS) is Canutillo Independent School District’s second middle school. AMS opened its doors in response to the growing student population in the District in August of 2006. AMS's educational facility provides an outstanding learning environment for sixth through eighth grade students and occupies the site of the former Canutillo Middle School on Talbot Road. Since its opening, the school has added a state-of-the-art library and science wing. Alderete is the only middle school in West Texas to have artificial turf on its football field. Elementary feeder schools for AMS are Canutillo, Davenport, and Reyes ES students.
AMS boasts a top-notch academic record, and its athletic and music programs have quickly gained recognition, being considered among the best in the region. AMS also offers students the opportunity to receive high school credit (credit by exam), and college credit (AP exam) in Spanish by taking an advanced college- level course.
