Public Service Academy

Mission Statement
Alderete Middle School Public Service Academy is dedicated to providing students with rigorous, career-focused academic pathways that accelerate learning and prepare students for high school, college, and careers. Through our Medical, Education, and Law Enforcement academies, students engage in advanced coursework and real-world learning opportunities in collaboration with local institutions and CISD’s high school endorsement pathways.
Our Purpose
Welcome to Alderete Public Service Middle School, home of El Paso’s only middle school Medical Magnet, Law Enforcement, and Education Academy. The academies provide career-focused programs. Together, these academies offer students the opportunity to explore specialized fields, earn high school credit, and establish a solid academic foundation for the future.
Medical Academy
Launched in 2017, the Medical Academy prepares students for careers in health and medicine through advanced academics and early exposure to the medical field. Students take courses such as:
- Advanced Academics for English, Social Studies, Science 6-8 grade
- Advanced Academics for Math 6-7, Algebra I
- Medical-focused electives, including Anatomy Art, Health/Wellness, Medical College & Career Readiness, Leadership in Public Service, Med Speech, Spanish
Students graduate from the program with multiple high school credits and readiness for CISD’s Health Science CTE pathways.
Introduction to Education Academy
Designed for future teachers and education professionals, this academy introduces students to the world of teaching through:
- Foundational education coursework
- Hands-on experiences such as classroom observations, peer mentoring, and community involvement
- High school credit electives such as Principles of Education & Training
This program supports students pursuing careers in education and leads into CISD’s Education & Training pathway in high school.
Law Enforcement Academy
For students interested in public service, justice, or criminal law, this academy offers:
- Exploratory coursework in criminal justice, public safety, and leadership
- Opportunities to learn from local law enforcement agencies
- High school credit electives aligned with the Law, Public Safety, Corrections, and Security (LPSCS) endorsement pathway
Each of these academies empowers students to explore real-world careers while achieving academic excellence. By the end of 8th grade, students have earned multiple high school credits and are well-prepared to continue along CISD’s CTE endorsement tracks with confidence and purpose.
